Use the contacts on this page to report any suspicions or evidence of an Argentinian registered company or national being involved in the bribery of a foreign public official in an international business transaction. The transaction may have taken place in any country in the world.
Foreign Bribery is a Crime
Bribery of a foreign public official has been a criminal offence in Argentina since 10 November 1999. Bribery that occurred prior to this date may also be a criminal offence if any part of the offence took place in Argentina. Further information on the foreign bribery offence is available from La República Argentina penaliza el soborno a funcionarios públicos extranjeros and OficinaAnticorrupción - Actuación Internacional OCDE.
Reporting
The Argentinian Government advises that suspected incidents of foreign bribery be reported to the Oficina Anticorrupción (the National Anti-Corruption Office). Anonymous reporting is permitted. Verbal and written reports can be accepted in Spanish (official language) and in English. To call Argentina from another country, use the international access code +54. It is also possible to report information regarding suspected incidents of foreign bribery to the Argentinian embassy in the country where the bribery is alleged to have occurred. Argentinian public officials are required to report suspicions of foreign bribery to the Argentinian enforcement authorities.

Do
  • Be aware that, as it is generally difficult to establish the crediblity of an anonymous source, it is unlikely that an investigation will be opened, unless the report is backed up by credible documentary evidence.

Validation of Contact Point(s)

In November 2008, we rang the Oficina Anticorrupción, which confirmed that it was able to receive reports of alleged foreign bribery involving Argentinian companies or nationals. The telephone call was made in Spanish. We are aware that some browsers issue a security alert on accessing the web site of the Oficina Anticorrupción. We have informed the Argentinian authorities that this is the case (January 2009).
